From September 17–19, ng-voice gathered for its biggest retreat yet at the beautiful Schlosshotel Fleesensee in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Most of our colleagues from all over the world joined us for three inspiring days filled with strategy workshops, team-building and unforgettable activities.
While our hybrid and remote work model continues to give us freedom and flexibility, there’s nothing that can fully replace the value of coming together in person. This year’s retreat proved exactly that: an intense, joyful, and truly memorable experience that brought the entire ng-voice team even closer.
The heart of this year’s retreat were three big value stream workshops. These sessions helped us shape the direction of ng-voice’s future development, define how everyone contributes to our shared success, and align on our vision moving forward.
In addition, our teams took part in neurocolor sessions, designed to help us understand each other’s unique workstyles and personality traits. By gaining deeper insights into how our colleagues think, communicate and collaborate, we strengthened the foundation for more effective teamwork and empathy across the organization.

Alongside the workshops, the retreat included a series of engaging activities designed to foster team spirit and informal connection. One such activity was stargazing. Even though the German autumn weather brought more clouds than stars, the experience turned into something special. We enjoyed a cosy evening together, sharing stories, laughing, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
“Our arrival at the Stargazing area coincided with some heavy cloud cover, but thanks to the 'Stellarium' app, those who wanted to see the stars still could (sort of). I downloaded the app and had a look but found I preferred to just chat with my new colleagues and get to know them better. Drinks and chocolates were also a nice touch!” - Michael Grimes, Technical Writer.
The highlight, for many, was soapbox racing. Split into groups randomly, everyone at ng-voice took part in designing, building and customizing soapboxes before testing them on the track. The excitement, creativity, and teamwork that went into the process made it an unforgettable activity. The races themselves were full of energy and a healthy dose of competition.
“The soapbox racing was incredibly enjoyable. As an engineer, I typically focus on technical work, but this time I had a chance to step outside my usual role and contribute to the design process. The racing itself was a lot of fun. Analyzing the challenge and developing a winning strategy was engaging, and I was pleased with how well I performed. We ended the retreat in style with an evening party, themed “The look you have been waiting for.” It was a chance for everyone to unwind and enjoy each other’s company in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. Between great music, laughter, and plenty of unforgettable moments, the evening was the perfect finale to the retreat.
