Waiting for 5G? Research on 6G is started!

While the world is busy adapting 5G, China is ahead of the curve announcing the development of the next-generation mobile communication network, 6G.

During the First Session of the 13th National People’s Congress in March 2018, the Chinese Minister for Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei declared a start of research on 6G. The next-generation mobile communication network is expected to be ultra fast, namely with data rates up to 10-11 Gbps. Moreover, 6G will likely create a basis for cheap and fast internet connection worldwide that tap satellite communication networks with specially designed Nano Antennas.

„As mobile communication technology advances rapidly, it not only connects people with people but links machines with machines as well as machines and humans. That is why we rush into the research on 6G. We want to prepare for such a world,“

Miao Wei.

Even 5G network doesn’t exist yet. However, China works on 5G communication technology with two outstanding domestic companies, Huawei and ZTE, that provide hardware solutions. Thus, China is emerging as the global leader in the technological forefront.

“China will dominate 5G thanks to its political ambition to lead technology development, the inexorable rise of local manufacturer Huawei, and the breakneck speed at which consumers have upgraded to 4G connections in the recent past,”

Marina Koytcheva, VP Forecasting at CCS Insight.
