To increase your turnover and in order to connect non-VoLTE devices, our platform also supports any SIP capable device such as Softphones or hardware devices. Our platform has been heavily tested with various Softphones, FTTH or DSL devices.

Supported Devices / Platforms

Any VoLTE enabled phone will work. Technically, any LTE capable device has been supporting VoLTE since 2006 (or maybe even earlier). More and more devices support real VoLTE out of the box.
You have poor LTE coverage? Try switching on Wifi and use Wifi-Calling with your handset!
You hear IMS and you think it's just about mobile networks? Think again! It's likely, that you've already called using IMS when not using your mobile. We can connect literally any SIP capable device to our platform: From SIP-Phones (e.g. Snom, Cisco or so many others), to DSL or Fibre devices (e.g. AVM FritzBox, Genexis FTTH-Devices, Patton Adapters, ...).
Your phone does not support native VoLTE? You can always use an OTT App such as Zoiper or Acrobits with our platform.
You don't have any phone at hands? Simply use your Browser! Due to our compliance with the 3GPP Specs for WebRTC, you can now connect from anywhere by just using a browser.

With Voice over LTE (VoLTE), all speech data is forwarded paket based and prioritized through the LTE network. This allows you to save a lot of money on infrastructure as a carrier, since you don't need any 2G/3G/CDMA network components or frequencies anymore. Especially in new "green-field" roll-outs, this is a very interesting network design. These cost savings can lead into a huge competitive advantage in terms of pricing.

Why ng-voice?

The VoLTE solution of ng-voice is built on top of Kamailio, which is integrated based on IMS-Standard into mobile networks. Kamailio is the leading Open-Source SIP-Server and is continously improved and kept up-to-date. ng-voice is integrating this IMS-compliant platform as a Carrier Grade Solution into LTE networks of any size. The hardware is run on basic Linux Servers or energy saving embedded systems, which can, for example, be used as a distributed Proxy-CSCF.

Our Founder, Carsten Bock, started the IMS-Integration into Kamailio based on the Open IMS-Core by the Fraunhofer Institute. He is coordinating and promoting the efforts within the open-source community until today.

Practical VoLTE

Only T-Mobile and Verizon in the U.S. and Singtel in Singapore have launched VoLTE deployments in production based on proprietary solutions based of the big infrastructure vendors. In 2014 the first VoLTE networks will be launched in South Africa and Bulgaria, based on the open-source solutions of ng-voice. More networks in Singapore, Dubai and Hongkong will likely follow in 2015, these networks will also be based on our open-source components. The move of Kamailio into mobile networks is unique!
Almost every handset vendor has devices with an integrated SIP/VoLTE stack available, even though they are not publicly available for the "normal user".

Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)

With the global transition to 4G LTE, the broad-based adoption of all-IP technologies has paved the way for the convergence of Telco and IT worlds. NFV establishes a framework for mobile operators to deploy 4G LTE solutions, such as Voice over LTE (VoLTE), Rich Communication Services (RCS) and Mobile Core Networks, in virtualized data centers and to fundamentally change the cost equation for building and managing next generation networks.
NFV is a framework for implementing multiple software applications on a common general purpose computing platform, where resources are flexibly shared on demand or as scheduled, thus providing significant CAPEX/OPEX savings. NFV employs a software model for implementing network solutions, thus providing service agility and deployment flexibility that cannot be achieved based on a hardware model.
Virtualization is the underlying technology to NFV, which is a logical stepping stone from traditional hardware-based deployment models to NFV. The transformation is from tradition hardware-based deployment models, to software-based, and ultimately to cloud-based, i.e. NFV. By deploying virtualized solutions today, operators have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the technology and processes related to virtualization, while reaping the benefits of improved service agility, deployment flexibility and reduced CAPEX.

Class V Telephony Switch

The TelcoSuite offers a fully-fledged and highly accessible Class V soft switch based on open standards such as Kamailio.
The technical basis of the telephony switch is a Kamailio SIP platform, formerly known as OpenSER. The ng-voice TelcoSuite is completely (100%) SIP-compliant and can be flexibly customised to a wide range of signalling requirements. The platform supports key features, such as least cost and fallback routing through various providers, emergency call routing, T.38, transcoding, fraud prevention or rating and billing according to the German Telecommunications Act.
The platform offers end customers convenient features, such as call forwarding, an answering machine in the network, Fax2Email, virtual conference rooms or presence display. SIP trunking is being prepared for business customers.
The ng-voice TelcoSuite also offers a connection to QSC for fast and smooth access to telephony. This allows you to order new phone numbers and transfer existing numbers fully automatically from QSC.
Customers with their own porting code can use our interface to F-TBOX from Flexagon to place orders directly with Deutsche Telekom via WITA and exchange order data with other providers via WBCI and S/PRI.
Together with the certified billing feature, providers working with the TelcoSuite meet all legal requirements in Germany.

Management Interface

The web-based management interface is the central management interface for all services and products. All other processes and systems, such as phone number orders with partners or DHCP, radius and auto configuration servers are integrated southbound.
In addition, the TelcoSuite provides a SOAP interface for connecting to separate OSS/BSS systems.

Number management

The call number management covers the entire connection process, including the porting and provision of individual MSNs and call number blocks. To achieve this, we use an interface to connect the TelcoSuite to a class IV provider and provide SIP accounts with the end customer data for the individual phone numbers.

Accounting

The accounting module offers pre-paid and post-paid billing, virtual pre-paid billing, real-time CDR rating and export and fraud prevention according to the German Telecommunications Act.
In addition to VoIP, the accounting module also offers billing for additional services such as Internet or IPTV. Here, various rates based on volume or flat-rate tariffs can be billed. The billing data is sent to the customer as a pdf or by e-mail or can also be sent via post by a letter shop.
After the billing, the billing data can also be transferred into the financial accounting systems using an interface.

Device management

There is already a zero-touch provisioning feature based on TR-069 and TFTP integrated into the TelcoSuite for a number of terminals. In this case, the access and VoIP data is automatically transferred to the CPE so that no manual configuration is necessary. Firmware updates can also be rolled out automatically.
In addition, the current online status of the terminals is displayed in the management interface. We recommend a connection to the TR-069 platform from Axiros for users who need more support and ACS functions here.
The ACS URL can be set for most terminals using the DHCP option for a fully automatic process. This eliminates the need for using Configfile and USB sticks. The TelcoSuite DHCP server supports this option and is described in greater detail under network services.

Core services

The network services combine all network components that are required for operating an IP network with voice services. All network services are integrated based on IMS and can be replaced by systems from other manufacturers at any time. The individual components include:

Monitoring

The TelcoSuite continuously monitors all processes and servers with Nagios and triggers alarms in case of failures or faults. Optionally, the voice quality and end customer router can also be integrated into the monitoring system.
Other network components that are not included in the TelcoSuite, such as DSLAMs or switches, can also be added to the monitoring system.
